The full title of this painting is "Fly: A Eulogy for my Grandmother". It was painted after my grandmother's death. Incorporated into the piece are actually handwritten pieces of her eulogy which I delivered. In the center of the painting is a bright red piece of acetate. If you look below its surface you will see a portrait of Catherine, my grandmother. It is as if she is the heart of the painting - just as she was the heart of my family.
